We'll be hosting the biggest farewell party in history when SpaceX's Big F***** Rocket (BFR) embarks on its maiden journey to the Red Planet, ferrying the crew to our stellar neighbor for them to leave the first human footprints in the red soil, lifting humanity to a new level in the game of evolution to eventually become an interplanetary species (Uncle Darwin will be proud).

The exact launch date is not set yet and subject to various uncertainties, but it would obviously make sense to light that thing on July 4th when the last sunrays of the day give way to the stars.

The festival will be held on holy grounds right at or close by Complex 39, where Neil Armstrong, Buzz Aldrin and Michael Collins once boarded Apollo 11 to venture into the heavens to set foot on the Moon. In Burning Man fashion we'll celebrate this historic event for 7 days with Music, Art, Shows and Performances and watch live in awe when Elon smashes that red button.

RSVP for updates and follow the Mars Roadmap under http://www.spacex.com/mars.

Godspeed, SpaceX 🚀

“You want to wake up in the morning and think the future is going to be great - and that's what being a spacefaring civilization is all about. It's about believing in the future and thinking that the future will be better than the past. And I can't think of anything more exciting than going out there and being among the stars.”

Leave your suggestions for artists in the comments, we'll update this list on the fly...

Complex 39

Launch Complex 39 (LC-39) is a rocket launch site at the John F. Kennedy Space Center on Merritt Island in Florida, United States. The site and its collection of facilities were originally built for the Apollo program, and later modified for the Space Shuttle program. As of 2017, only Launch Complex 39A is active, launching SpaceX's Falcon 9 and Falcon Heavy.
