A home town show, with full live band for this talented singer/songwriter as part of Croydon Calling.

Rachel Chinouriri is a 19 year old singer/songwriter from Croydon, the youngest in a large family, and the only child in her family born in England rather than their native Zimbabwe.

Her family's traditional Zimbabwean values meant she sometimes felt isolated from her cultural surroundings, finding solace in writing and recording music. Her limited exposure to pop music and her self taught singing/guitar meant she developed a totally unique style.

"Her soul-influenced take on the singer-songwriter rulebook places her alongside Nilufer Yanya in giving the solo musician with a guitar a new feel in 2018" - DIY

"The 19 year old South Londoner has a deftness of touch, a softness of execution that seems to render fresh intensity to her every move." - Clash

At the age of 17 she wrote an EP and recorded it on her laptop using a £20microphone, mixed it on her mums laptop and dropped it on Soundcloud. The EP is aptly named 'Bedroom Tales', and saw support from BBC Introducing pretty much instantly, establishing Rachel as an act to watch. 2018 saw her continue to develop her style, with more releases due out later this year.

'So My Darling' follows the Londoner's debut single 'What Have I Ever Done', released to critical acclaim.
